Golfer’s Dress Code

Betterball Medal

  • There are 140 Betterball Medal teams, each consisting of a professional and an amateur. The field is divided into two groups of 70 teams. One group contests the first round on the Lost City Golf Course, while the other group begins at the Gary Player Country Club, alternating for the second round.

    On conclusion of the second round there is a cut to the 60th placed team. If a number of teams tie on this score, there is a count-out to determine which of the tied teams qualify to contest the third round. All teams making the cut contest the third round at the Gary Player Country Club.

    The count-out mentioned above will be done by the Sunshine Tour. It will take the form of a sequential elimination of those teams tying using the team’s scores on the Gary Player Golf Course (irrespective of the day on which the round was played) on the following basis:

    • - The lowest 18 hole score, if there is still a tie then;
    • - The lowest score over holes 10 to 18; if there is still a tie then;
    • - The lowest score over holes 12 to 18; if there is still a tie then;
    • - The lowest score over holes 14 to 18; if there is still a tie then;
    • - The lowest score over holes 16 to 18; if there is still a tie then;
    • - The lowest score recorded on hole 18; if there is still a tie then;
    • - The team qualifying will be decided by the Sunshine Tour at their sole discretion.

    On conclusion of the third round there will be a cut to the 25th placed team. If more than one team ties on the 25th placed team score then there will be a count-out to determine which of the teams tying on the cut score qualify to contest the final round. All teams making the cut will contest the final round at the Gary Player Country Club.
